First off, news is back up and running. The news script I'd been using had some issues, and I gave up on trying to fix it and did it my own way :)
Second, I'm hearing some rumors in the wind that the guys might be making a trip back to the studio sometime soon. I'll keep you posted!

We're BAAAAAAAACK

Alright people, its time to wake back up and rock back out! We took a little time off to take care of some business and put together some new music, but now its time to get back in the groove!
Rivin will be playing NEXT Friday, August 17th at the Back Door in Nacogdoches (Behind Bullfrogs!). Expect a good dose of new tunes, and one hella good time! Come out and see us, you won't wanna miss it. And its Ladies Night, so all you chica's get in free ;)
Also, rumor has it that a band by the name of Rivin may be playing at Sharky's Machine in Houston sometime next month.

Better late than never? ;)

Ok, here's the scoop. Big Dog BotB finals basically got rained out after the first band. Cancelled the battle, and ended up cancelling the 2nd stage of the main event as well. Word on the street was that we would be contacted about a "makeup event", though I'm not sure of the incentive, as the ZZTop show is long gone. Not sure, we're still waiting on word from BD, so I'll keep ya'll posted. Very very disappointing, but who are we to argue with Mother Nature?
FYI, Rivin and Social Bliss will be playing at the Downtown Hoedown in Downtown Lufkin Saturday April 14!! Show is expected to start with Social Bliss at approx 11:30am, with Rivin taking the stage at around 1:30pm, which of course is all subject to change. ;) Sounds like we're going to be out in the middle of all the action this time, so our location will be much better than last year!
I'll be there hauling around CD's for sale, so be sure to stop by and catch the show and buy a CD or two or twenty!! :)

Big Dog 106 BotB Finals, Saturday April 7
|
Hey all, just a reminder that we got confirmation on the April 7 Big Dog 106 BotB Finals!!!! The last round is tentatively scheduled to start around 12 noon, and we're expecting approx 6 bands. Winner of the battle will high-tail it to the main event to lead off for ZZ Top, Kid Rock, Los Lonely Boys and Cross Canadian Ragweed!!! We're gonna need all the support we can get, so PLEASE come out Saturday at noon and help us show Beaumont the future of Modern Rock!!!
On a slightly different note, expect some changes to the website in the next few days, as I'll be tweaking the layout a bit. Let me know what you think! :)

Rivin going to Big Dog 106.1 BotB Finals!!!

Congrats to all the bands that made it to the finals last night at Changing Times!! Rivin moves on to the Finals at Ford Park in Beaumont (Saturday April 7th) with a thundering crowd reaction!!! And thanks again to Southern Embers for providing the PA for the night!!! And many thanks to Changing Times and Big Dog 106.1!!!!

Rivin, from north of the Woodville area, performed three original tunes, including Not Mine, Paradise Regained and A Means to an End, plus a fourth song which was unidentified. The group opened the show as a four piece, but went down to just three members for two of the songs before closing the set as a four piece again. This group showed why its modern rock sound has become so popular since their Beaumont debut nearly one year ago.
The unidentified song of the night was "Fade" ;)
And of course, everybody get ready for tonight, we'll be at Wild Willie's in Lufkin, with Social Bliss opening at 8pm!!!!

Last minute Battle of the Bands!!!

Hey all, real short turnaround on this one, but we'll be at Changing TImes in Beaumont tonight for a Battle of the Bands!!! We're gonna hit the ground running on this one, so if you're in the area, PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!! Here's the story (From LocalMusicGuide.net):
Attention all rock bands and all country bands!
Clear Channel, specifically Big Dog 106 and KYKR 95.1 want you to sign up now for a short and quick "Battle of the Bands" contest.
Rock bands will compete this Thursday (March 22nd) and on March 29th at Changing Times, while country bands will compete Friday (March 23rd) and March 30th at a venue to be determined.
Winning bands will be selected to perform at a Finals competition to be held at Ford Park on April 7th, which just happens to be the day of the ZZ Top concert at Ford Pavilion with special guests Kid Rock, Los Lonely Boys and Cross Canadian Ragweed. The finalists will perform before the show that day, but then the winner will be chosen to open the show that night too. Prizes will possibly be awarded to the winner and/or winners as well, besides the opening slot.
So obviously, we're pretty pumped about this one!!! We're gonna need all the crowd support we can get, so if you can pull it off, PLEASE be at Changing Times in Beaumont tonight around 8pm!!!! Here's the infoz:

Ok everybody, I've got a massive announcement for you, wrapping several awesome things into one... First, THIS FRIDAY, Rivin will be opening for internationally touring band The Hunger at Antones!!! Yes, that's right Beaumont, WE'RE BAAAAAAACK!!!
Yes, there's more! Friday, March 23 we'll be back in Lufkin to play at Wild Willie's on North Timberland street!
So for those of you that have been fiending for your Rivin fix like me, your wish has come true, and THEN SOME!!! So get ready to rock, and we'll see you at the shows!!!!!!!!!

Wow, last night's show was awesome!! You could tell the guys enjoy playing for a hometown crowd for sure! Rivin hit the stage at around 9:30 and rocked the house until they kicked us out so they could close down. ;) Many thanks are in order for last night's show; We want to thank Bullfrogs for letting us come in and tear the place down, KFOX 95.5 and Dan Patrick for giving us some air time to infest the ears of their listeners, and Special thanks to Jonathan Crager for joining the guys on stage and rocking out! Most importantly, thanks to Sid (Sid and Ranch Records) for running the sound board and making sure things sounded as awesome as possible, a HUGE thanks to all our fans and everybody that came out to the show, and thanks to drunken friends that wouldn't leave without an encore! :) We couldn't do it without ya'll!!!!!

Ok, first thing's first. The New Year's Eve show at Antones was friggin awesome!! The guys started the show at 9:15, and with the exception of a few short breaks, rocked Crockett Street until 1am!!! New tunes, old tunes, favorite tunes, and some stuff that even I hadn't heard yet!!! Thanks again to Antones for asking us to come down and rock the house into 2007!!
With that said, we finally tracked down pics of the last couple shows (Bridge City Skatepark and our first Antone's show), so I got everything set up and they're all posted now. Also tossed out the pics I had on my camera from the New Year's Eve show, and I'll add more as I get them. Remember, if you have pics, LET ME KNOW!!! :) rivin@rivinmusic.com

New Year's Eve Extravaganza!!! TOOONNIIIGGGHHHT!!!

Crockett Street
Sunday is the real party as Crockett Street Entertainment District hosts another stellar New Year's Eve Party on the street. Live entertainment featuring local blues rock band The Kinship and regional rockers Podunk, who have Southeast Texas ties. Entertainment will be provided by modern rock band Rivin inside Antone's as well. Admission to the festivities is only $5 for ages 21 and older before 9 p.m. and $10 before 10 p.m. Ages 18 and older are able to attend as well, but admission is $15 at the gate all night long. A midnight fireworks display is scheduled as well, so make plans to party on Crockett Street this Sunday night. Call 409-832-2944 for more information.
It's tonight people, yes tonight. No, not Thursday, its TONIGHT!!! So get ready, grab everybody you know (and bring them with you too), and get ready to get rocked into 2007!! Rivin expects to hit the stage around 10pm, but we're expecting a huge crowd so get there early!!!

Quit your job (I'm kidding... Just don't go to work, tell them its for Rivin, they'll understand), find a babysitter, gas up the car, and GET OUT TO ANTONES!!! Cover will likely be around $8, but once you've paid, you can walk in to any club on Crockett Street!!! (We know you won't leave Antones, but you know, just in case...)

That was one helluva show last night people!! We'd like to drop many thanks to the Antones crew for getting us locked into a spot, we hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did!! Also, thanks to Sounds Under Radio and Damian Giglio for sharing the stage, good times for all.
All sorts of cool stuff going on for sure, Hunter singing in a key I don't think any of us had heard before, Butch sporting his new ground lights that were locked on the band, Butch and James cutting up out in the parking lot, and just an overall awesome show. I'll be posting pics as I get them from everybody. Oh, and we'd also like to send a HUGE thanks out to one of Beaumont's hardware stores for staying open a few minutes later on a Friday night. We couldn't have done the show without you! ;)
On another note, I'm sure you've noticed the new site design. Been in the works for a while, but now its finally up and running. Drop a note in the guestbook or to rivin@rivinmusic.com and let me know what you think! I hope everybody likes it! Merry early Christmas, Rivin Fans!!!
